WR Brandon Marshall has Super Bowl in sight this year with Chicago Bears - NFL News
After last season’s poor 8-8 regular season record for the Chicago Bears and with the team missing out on the playoffs many fans will just be happy if the team this year reach the playoffs.
The Bears collapsed completely on offence after season ending injuries to quarterback, Jay Cutler, and running back, Matt Forte, put the team’s offence out of its stride and they went on to lose the last five games of the campaign.
In the offseason, the Bears added wide receiver, Brandon Marshall and running back, Michael Bush to the offensive roster in addition to drafting some big talent in the 2012 drafts the offence is starting to look good on paper again.
With Cutler due to recover soon from his thumb injury and Forte even with his stalled contract situation expected to join the team prior to the start of the season, Bears fans are confident that the team can make a good challenge for the playoffs in an increasingly
difficult division.
However, Marshall has even bigger goals than just the playoffs in mind with his new team.
Speaking on ESPN’s “First Take” on Friday, according to SportingNews.com
the wide receiver said that he believes Chicago Bears can make it to the Super Bowl as well as go on to win it this season.
“Honestly, I think we can not only make it to the Super Bowl, but I think we'll have a chance to win it.”
That is a big prediction by Marshall. He went on to add why he thought the Bears could go all the way.
“I look at it the other way. You have to pay respect to the Packers because they won the division, but those teams don't have a defence like we do.”
He has a point as both the Bears biggest rivals for the playoffs, the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions do not boast defences that many opponents would sweat over.
He continued.
“On the offensive side of the ball, we know what we have in Matt Forte and Jay Cutler, and adding me to the passing game it's just going to make our offense and our team that much better. But what we have that they don't have is that defence.”
Whether Chicago makes a run for the Super Bowl or not remains to be seen but the Bears have a lot of work to do before they can dream of such lofty ambitions.
