WR Justin Blackmon gets central stage in Jacksonville Jaguars’ receivers’ crop – NFL News
Rookie wide receiver Justin Blackmon seems to have overcome recent off-field troubles, making strides in the pro career with the Jacksonville Jaguars as the player reportedly has been given an opportunity to take snaps with first group at training camp of
the team.
The improvement shows that Jaguars pose complete confidence in the player’s future conduct provided he remains consistent with impressive off-field behaviour as he had vowed to do after his arrest on the driving under influence (DUI) charge soon after his
arrival in Jacksonville off this year’s draft.
Coach Mike Mularkey, who is apparently behind the motivation for the rookie to take snaps with starters, said the idea is aimed at giving an opportunity to Blackmon and second year quarterback Blaine Gabbert to get maximum possible reps during practice.
Justin is expected to get an opportunity to make his first appearance in the pro career in Jaguars’ next preseason game. He is a 12-day late arrival at training camp because of the off-field troubles that also delayed his signing by the team, which came
about three days to start of the camp.
It is now to see how Justin performs in the game. Some commentators see him having a potential to become an elite receiver in the future provided he again does not try something unexpected off-field that affects his career growth.
Coach Mularkey nevertheless is hopeful of his potential to excel in his rookie year. This is the reason that the official started posing confidence into his abilities straightaway, and gave him reps with starters.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have started their preseason campaign at an impressive note. They beat the reigning Super Bowl champions the New York Giants. A notable point of the team’s performance in the game was second-year QB Blaine Gabbert’s performance that
pleased the head coach.
Blaine is lucky to have another opportunity from Jaguars in spite of his last season’s failings and it is down to the head coach. He has persisted with Blaine as their offence leader hoping he learns from his past year’s mistakes while giving him a piece
of warning to improve or think of alternatives. The decision seems have paid him off as the QB has made a promising start to the second year of his pro stint.
