WR Kenny Britt escapes another fine as Tennessee Titans OK with public comments – NFL News
Tennessee Titans’ troubled and injury-riddled wide receiver Kenny Britt is in a lucky escape of another fine over going public about the previous penalty he received as a disciplinary action for missing his rehab workout.
The team maintains that the player has not disclosed reasons of the fine in the posting on Instagram and thus did not commit any violation.
It was more frustrating for Kenny to receive the penalty of $9,915 on the heels of his meeting with National Football League (NFL) commissioner Roger Goodell over the recent arrest on driving under the influence (DUI) charge.
Kenny lashed out at Titans over their choice of imposing the fine on him and wrote on the social networking site "Walk back to dis. Don't dey know I have kids." The comments showed him worried about the financial impact of the penalty
on his family more than actually hitting the cause of the fine.
This is what coach Mike Munchak believes: that the player’s act does not tantamount to contravention of disciplinary rules because he did not give details including reasons of the punishment.
Mike said:
"To be honest with you, I haven't read anything he wrote. I just know that he commented on the fact that he was upset, and I'll leave it at that. If something else comes of it, or if we feel that something is necessary to be done, then
it'll be done. I don't want to get into any details. The bottom line is he didn't follow some rules. There are consequences, and that's it."
Although Kenny still faces the risk of a fine or any other penalty, he at the moment is safe from it. A penalty of another fine could have proved more costly to him and his family. Also, it could have aggravated the difficulties he has
been through recently. He sounds to be serious to get back on the pro career track as soon as he can but faces a serious struggle to achieve the goal.
It is down to the off-field issues he has faced since last year. This includes violations and injuries. Titans have placed him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, while he still awaits outcome of the meeting with NFL boss.
