okay

so right now i'm SCARED OUT OF MY MIND!

i thought i had a ringworm infection

so i used some anti-fungal cream

that didn't work so i went to the doctor

who told me it was ringworm

and gave me another treatment

it didn't work

in fact

it got a lot grosser and painful

now

i went to a different doctor

she said it could be either impetigo or wrestling herpes

she gave me medication for impetigo

but if it doesn't go away......

then by logic it's going to be herpes

>.<

that's what FREAKS ME OUT!!!!

i've been doing my research but i really need to have a couple of questions answered:

1) is it true that this herpes lives only on the surface of the skin? therefore it can go away and not ever come back?

2) if it spreads to the genitals, does it become genital [and chronic] herpes?

3) can i spread it by kissing or sexual activity?

give me as much information as you can please!

and please provide a resource if you can?

  1. TROLLS ALERT

  2. 1)No. Herpes enters the nerve ganglion where it stays for the entire rest of your life once you have it. It will go dormant, and you may never experience symptoms again even if you live to 90, but it will still be alive in your body.

    2) It is exceedingly unlikely to spread to the genitals. No more so than if you were a person who had herpes on your mouth - i.e. you had a history of cold sores - you would be likely to transfer it to the genitals. Once you have a herpes infection in one part of your body, you begin to produce antibodies to the virus. This prevents you getting the same type of herpes in a second place.

Outbreaks should also happen in the same area as the original outbreak.

If you were experiencing an outbreak, say on your arm if that it where you had it, and your partner's genitals rubbed the outbreak, THEY could get genital herpes though. Just as someone with oral herpes can give their partner genital herpes through giving oral s*x. But you yourself will not get genital herpes, and no other part of your body will ever be infectious

    3) No other part of your body than where the original outbreak occured will EVER be infectious. You cannot spread it through kissing or intercourse, because a herpes infection stays where it is caught, it is localised and will not be spread from other parts of your body.

Wrestlers' herpes, mat herpes or herpes gladiatorum as it is also known, is usually caused by the oral herpes virus hsv-1.

80% of adults are infected with hsv-1 (usually on the mouth) so you are far from alone.

Normally, the herpes virus infects mucous membranes like the mouth and genitals. This is because normal skin is too thick for the virus to enter. However, wrestlers can get abrasions and cuts while wrestling that allow the virus to enter where the skin is broken. This may come from someone else with herpes gladiatorum, or just from another wrestler that has oral herpes, whose lower face accidentally makes contact.

If it IS wrestler's herpes, you would probably have noticed some blistering before it turned into a sore, though that is not always the case. If you have never previously had oral herpes, you might also run a fever and feel very ill (I felt terrible when I caught herpes - like flu). Symptoms would normally appear 3-5 days after contact took place, and would resolve themselves within 2-20 days. Normally herpes will vanish within a week, a first outbreak might last a couple of eeks, but it will never ever hang around for longer than three before it goes dormant again.

  4. Don't freak. My brother has impertigo and it sounds a lot like what you are describing. If you have Echsema (sp) then it is most likely impertigo. which is commonly known as school sores. just keep it covered up as impertigo is contagious, and don't let anybody with a cut or open skin touch it because they will get it. Impertigo can be itchy, DONT scratch it. it will get worse. try and look after it as well as you can. Impertigo is generally chronic, so it is most likely to come back.

I hope it goes away soon!!!!
