Most-awaited draw for the forth coming London Olympics is out and there is some shocking news for the fans along with some entertaining matches lined up in the first round of the tournament.
One of the must-watch matches from the opening round of the contest includes:
Agnieszka Radwanska vs. Julia Goerges
Unfortunately, the German beauty queen, Julia Goerges, has been handed over the toughest draw of the opening round in the form of the second seed Pole age-fellow, Agnieszka Radwanska.
While recapping the previous performances of both players, one can easily state that the 23-year-old Pole leads the odds with quite a margin and should wrap up the match in straight sets.
Radwanska already leads the head-to-head scores by 2-0 and both victories came earlier this year and that too in straight sets.
However, the 24th ranked German will not ease up the situation for the second seed Pole and definitely try to put an end to her miserable run and inch a step closer to the maiden Olympic gold medal.
If the ground strokes for the 23-year-old German gets going on the eve of Saturday, she has a fair chance of upsetting the Polish flag-bearer but in order to perform the heroics, she needs to tone down her temper and built some
tolerance for bad luck.
Goerges had a good run of form at the start of the season where she reached the final of the Dubai Duty Free Championships but the Pole second seed stood in between the title and the German.
So, there is a possibility of the 24th ranked German being on the revenge mission and possibly defy all the odds; oust the Pole and get off the mark in the head-to-head series.
It will be an exciting battle to say the least and both players are equally capable of putting up a startling show. Let’s hope that it’s not a mere straight sets battle and an epic three-setter.
Radwanska will obviously start the match as the hot favourite. However, she will have to put up a compact show at the All England Lawn Tennis Club to escape an early exit.
