GolTV has been off Dish Network since August 1st.

According to GolTV, the decision was made by Dish who decided "to impose unreasonable contract demands and terms on the independent and privately-owned minority network, GolTV."

For the record, GolTV is very much an advertising-supported network. Just as GolTV needs those long distance rates commercials in order to survive ("Hey Pedro, I got the tickets!"), so too does Fox Soccer Channel need Giuseppe Franco pimping his hair-loss shampoo or whatever it is to stay on air.

"I'm Giuseppe Franco. I'm not putting my name on the line for something that doesn't work."

Personally, I had never heard of the b*****d before the existence of FSC.

On the other hand, Setanta Sports relies on the number of subscribers they have in order to remain on the air. You won't see anyone pimping male sexual enhancement on any of Setanta's commercials.

Mind you, I do miss those "smiling Bob" commercials on FSC.
