Okay so I set him down, I don't know when.

Like 7 hours ago. I was making water for him.

And he left. It was on a counter so obviously he fell off. I searched my entire house.

How long do they live?

How do I find him?

What should I do?

IM MOVING IN LIKE 3 DAYS!

  1. They can survive without water for no more than a week.

Place water and a stinky food like tuna or peanut butter in the middle of a big square of aluminum foil, when they go for it (after dark) you will hear them. Also check bathrooms and the kitchen, they will head toward water.

They are actually good climbers and can climb up steps...especially because the carpet is so easy to grip.

  2. Don't worry.  Maybe you will find him when you are unloading your house furniture and everything.  Just remember they are sneaky, love to hide, and LOVE the dark.   Unusual, right?  They have a lifespan of 30-50 years.  I Googled it.  Also, my friend says her Grandfather had his hermit crab since he was 10.  He's 42 now.  You do the math :)

    Hope I helped!

  3. i had this problem, i had 4 hermit crabs and would set them on my bed to change the water and fix the tank and such and one day my biggest decided to go for a stroll off the edge. i came back and i couldn't find him. i had read they like dark damp places so i looked everywhere, he ended up falling into a round fish bowl and died, it wasn't until i moved i found a shell and i was like hmm where did this come from then i turned it around and his body was falling out. so just start packing and look everywhere, inside shirts, everywhere. they can live maybe 3 days without food and water.

    good luck.

  4. They like dark, damp, and they like to climb. Look in any little crack around where he was, they love hiding. The lifespan depends on the crab itself. Good luck finding him
