Question:

WTF is wrong with the Mets' bullpen, Wagner in particular?

Every time the Mets call on their bullpen, I get so nervous because it is almost inevidable that they will implode. Poor Johan Santana has gotten like 5 no desicions because either Billy Wagner blew the save in the 9th or because someone else blew it in the 7th or 8th. Same with nearly every other starter in the Mets' staff. With exception of Joe Smith and Duaner Sanchez, and even they have their moments, our bullpen isnt worth c**p.

What is wrong with the pen, and/or who do the Mets need to aquire to help clean up this humiliating mess?

  1. im still confused about the umpire, not to use it as an excuse but he had a huge k zone the entire night and then it just shrunk when wagner came in-whatever

  2. they need a new close wagner is getting old and is not as good as he was

  3. and because of this the marlins suddenly jumped to second place in the NL east. frustrating night for mets fans again.

  4. Wagner is actually hurt, Heilman has always been a mess, Sánchez is streaky, and Feliciano should not be allow to pitch in games with no less than a 4 run lead.

Bright side. Schoeneweis has looked good.

  5. The Mets suck. The Cubs are the only championship contender in the NL.

  6. there's just no consistency in that bullpen, wagner is clearly not what he once was and probably needs to go back to throwing from a windup like he was earlier in the year...all of them have been on and off, and that's not good enough in a divisional race this tight...there really isn't much they can do now that the trade deadline has passed, they really should have made an effort to get arthur rhodes but instead allowed the marlins to make a move for him

  7. Plain AW-FULLLLLLL.

Wagner obviously was off, which occasionally happens with closers, but their middle relievers, especially Heilman, I mean, something should have been done, and needs to be done. Another disappointing season looks to be inevitable, and this time they cant blame The Phillies for winning so much, but blame within themselves. Even their offense at most times looks sleepy. This series with Astros as well as their recent series against Marlins, will haunt them come October.

  8. I just asked the same question like 2 minutes ago. I think the Mets made a huge mistake when they didn't pick up anybody before the trade deadline. I bet you Johan Santana feels sooo frustrated. But I notice the bullpen always does this when Johan Santana pitches. Johan could, SHOULD of been at least 12-2 or so by now.
