I don't wanna offend anyone here.

But anyways, you know those people who give you your tickets after you give them the money? When you're about to go down?

DUDE. You just SIT there. And you want higher pay?

What kind of jerkwad are they?

You should try being a cop WHO IS CONSTANTLY MOVING, and who do a waaay more serious job.

You get double or triple minimum wage, while the employees at like, Tim Hortons have a hard job, making food and catering to your needs. AND THEY GET MINIMUM WAGE? And you just SI there.

I don't mean all people, just the ones that do such an easy job and want a gigantic paycheck!

What are your views on this?

  1. The TTC is pathetic in EVERY level.

Have you ever taken the transit in another country? Its like heaven and h**l, with TTC being h**l.

Unprovoked RUDE workers who should be FIRED, if you work at a customer service job, then you should DO YOUR JOB. Unless a customer is rude first hand, you have absolutely no right to be rude.

I understand the DRIVERS were the majority that voted AGAINST the strike, and are the ones who are actually taking a lot of the c**p from people, I sympathize with you.

As for the other workers/etc that voted to strike, they should all be fired, systematically. There are probably TONS of immigrants who would die for a high paid job like that, and do 100x better and more efficient of a job. And not to mention, KNOWLEDGE from another country where a BETTER (heaven compared to TTC) transit system occurs.

    Other Transit Systems:

    - Highly schedule buses - arrives EVERY 15min/35min  - RARELY ever late. (rush hour/off hour)

    - TIMED streetcars (ETAs available) - can see estimated time of arrival, spaced out like every 5-7 minutes.

NO 3 streetcars back to back, NO waiting 20 minutes - NO expected irregular service

    - Subways also have ETAs, delays are IMMEDIATELY notified on the ETAs.

    - Never have regular power outs.

    - Some subway systems have glassed walls with doors (opens automatically with arrival of train) - so NO ONE can fall or jump into the tracks

    - CLEAN subway system

    - Cost is calculated based on DISTANCE TRAVELED. (1 stop is cheaper than 10 stops, unlike the stupid TTC system)

    - Got RID of the pathetic low tech ticket and token system, all payments are made by a rechargeable card (you put cash value in).

I hope you can understand how pathetic the TTC actually is, for those who have never really known what a true competent service is like (go take the transit outside of Toronto).

  2. You nailed it right on the head.

  3. i agree it is really stupid.  but, beccause they are backed by a union they have the power to do this because they will still get paid.  andd also, it puts the government in a tough situation because the whole city relies on them.  despite the fact that it is an easy job it is a job that ppl need, so they do have power

  4. YES! I agree with you 100%. The strike affects SO many people because majority of people who live in the city, or work in downtown Toronto rely on the TTC. Parking is expensive so it's much more convenient to take the subway/RT to work. Now that gas prices are going up, I would assume even more people rely on public transit to travel around. On another note, I hate that they keep bringing up bus fares every few years.

  5. As a unionized  labour force, the TTC has every right to ask for the best deal for their members. When negotiations are not satisfactorily agreed to by the majority, they have a legal right to exercise the strike option. People who work for non-unionized companies for minimum wage choose that job, just as the TTC employees chose their jobs. Let's face it, some companies are better to work for than others.

  6. I agree with you completely, this is really upsetting. There are so many people who rely on it to get to work, it's really an essential service.
