I know our U.S. guys called the Germans "Jerrys" during WW2. Were there other nicknames for enemy soldiers? For allied soldiers? For fellow U.S. soldiers?

  1. I know of Krauts for the Germans

  2. nips

  3. In WWII, an american soldier might of been called- GI, Joe, or Yank.

  4. Nips, j**s, Tojo.

    The British were "Tommy"

Here's a few sites that'll keep you busy for a minute or two.

  5. The British were known as "Limies" (said like lime with "eys' from keys added on). The Germans were known as "Krauts, Jerries, and Fritz". Americans were always known as "Yanks". The French were known as "Frogs". The Japanese were known as "j**s, Nips, or Nippers". The Russians had no nickname to my knowledge.

  6. Americans were "Joe", Germans were "Krauts", "Heimi" and many derogatory names for the Japanese that I'm not comfortable thinking let alone writing. BTW, except for the affectionate "Joe", those weren't "nicknames" they were ethnic slurs - and meant to be such. Why drag it up?  "Been there"

  7. marines were called "teifel hun" by the n***s, which translates to Devil Dog, which is what we call each other still....the n***s also called the marines "shock troops", but i dont know how you say that in german
