What powered toperdos and what kind of fuel did they use?

  1. Steam, electric, and Alcohol were each used.

    When I first began serving on my first sub we still had some of the alcohol engines.


  2. Torpedoes have many possible energy sources, however I believe batteries were the most common for submarine torpedoes in WWII

  3. Usually they were powered by something called a wet-heater (methyl fuel), or hydrogen peroxide, or an electric battery as far as I know.

  4. There were several different types of torpedoes used in WW2. Some were steam driven, some were electric. There were also others.
