WWE COO, Triple H resolves the double WWE Champion issue during Monday Night Raw – WWE News
WWE Chief Operating Officer, Triple H resolved the issue of two WWE Superstars, John Cena and CM Punk having the WWE Championship belts during the Monday Night Raw on August 1. He announced a “WWE Champion Vs WWE Champion” match between both that will be
taken place at “SummerSlam” after two weeks.
It was first time in WWE history that there were two WWE Champions. Punk claimed that he defeated John Cena the WWE Championship match so he was the WWE Champion. John Cena claimed that he defeated the WWE Champion, Rey Mysterio so he was the WWE Champion.
The situation created ambiguity during Monday Night Raw for the WWE Universe as to who will be the real WWE Champion.
When Raw segment started, Punk made his way to the ring with the huge pop of the crowd. He took the microphone and started by telling the reason that why he was back to WWE once again. Punk explained that he loved where he worked but did not like the people
who were in-charge. Punk told WWE Universe that he was back to WWE for the big changes. The COO, Triple H also came out to the ring.
The COO first explained that he re-signed Punk because it was good for business as the same reason for Jim Ross and John Morrison as well. Triple H discussed about the Championship belt that Punk was the WWE Champion, but John Cena was also the WWE Champion
as he defeated Mysterio in a Championship fight.
Triple H came into the ring again at the end of the segment. That time, WWE Champions, Cena and Punk also attended the ring. Triple H explained that he did not re-signed Punk till Cena defeated Mysterio and became the champion. Punk was re-signed after that
match, so Cena was also the valid WWE Champion. Punk stated that he deserved the Championship belt as he defeated Cena already in the “Money in the Bank”. Only a Championship match could gave the undisputed WWE Champion, so the COO announced a Championship
match at “SummerSlam” which will put both Champions against each other to decide who the title holder really is.
After announcing the match, Triple H left the ring while both champions remained. The Second City Saviour held up his title and WWE Universe chanted CM Punk. Afterwards, Cena also raised his title and got the huge pop from his fans.
