WWE Champion, Alberto Del Rio drops down to fifth position in WWE Power 25 – WWE Update
The WWE Champion, Alberto Del Rio shockingly was placed five steps down from his previous position in the Power 25. The Mexican Aristocrat is now placed fifth in the current week’s rankings until the weekly segments of October 22.
The Academy of Wrestling Arts and Science updated the WWE Champion’s ranking after the weekly Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown segments of October 17 and October 21 respectively. The WWE Champion was unlucky enough to lose both of his weekly bouts.
On October 17 during Monday Night Raw, the Interim Raw General Manager, John Laurinaitis rehired the ring announcer, Jim Ross and put him into fight against the team of Del Rio and Michael Cole. Ross was teamed up with Cena and it was also announced between
Cena and Del Rio that the winner will decide his match stipulation for Vengeance.
At the end, the team of Cena and Ross won the match when Jim put Cole into an Ankle Lock and Cole tapped. Cena set his match as “The Last Man Standing Match” because it was the match that the Cenation Leader has never lost.
On October 21, the WWE Champion faced the World’s Largest Athlete, the Big Show in the main event of Friday Night SmackDown. The WWE Champion could not stand long against the World’s Largest Athlete. While Del Rio was near to losing his bout, the World Champion,
Mark Henry appeared and attacked the Big Show.
The World Champion’s attack caused a disqualification and the WWE Champion lost the match due to disqualification that he was already going to lose. Del Rio and Henry double teamed to keep the upper hand. But the World’s Largest Athlete not only beat down
both but also choke-slammed his Vengeance rival, Henry.
The consistent losses during all the weekly segments reduced the WWE Champion’s feat. Due to these losses, the Academy of Wrestling Arts and Science dropped the WWE Champion directly from first place to fifth place.
Vengeance took place on this past Sunday and the WWE Champion has maintained himself as well by winning the Last Man Standing Match against Cena.
