WWE Champion Daniel Bryan retains title on WWE Smackdown against Mark Henry – Wrestling news
After taking a start with bawling out on the Big Show, WWE’s World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan defended his title against the world’s strongest man, Mark Henry, later that night.
In the previous weeks, the Big Show had remained under allegations for deliberately running over Bryan’s girlfriend A.J. The incident took place last Friday when A.J. was at ringside to chant for the champion while he went one on one with the Big Show in
a match. The match ended up with a controversial no-contest decision after the Big Show ran over A.J.
The last two weeks have been pretty troubling for the Big Show and Mark, since both of them have their eyes set on the title shot. Moreover, since Bryan has been winning most of his fights through disqualifications, both of the big men feel it’s about time
to straighten him up. Bryan, the American Dragon, won the heavyweight title at the TLC event by cashing out the Big Show for his Money in the Bank opportunity. It was the same night when the Big Show won the title against Mark Henry in a highly competitive
TLC match.
Overall, Bryan is considered to be worthy of the title by most WWE wrestlers, fans and analysts. He sneaked in the title through cashing his money in the bank opportunity and has been retailing it since then through disqualification decisions. The 5ft 10in,
210 pounds champion is now all set to go for the triple threat match with Mark Henry and the Big Show on the 25th anniversary of Royal Rumble on January 29, 2012.
Commenting on both of his opponents, Bryan stated, “They are both upset that I have the championship. They're two enormous guys that that are upset this little guy that's been here for two years has the belt and they want it back.”
He further added, “I enjoy the pressure. This is what I worked so hard for the past 12 years. I have the belt and I'm not planning on giving it back.”
At Royal Rumble 25, the champion will be defending his title against both the destroying machines, and it will be tough for him to get through. However, as confident as a tiger, he says he will pass through the test of time easily.
