WWE Champions, John Cena and CM Punk to sign contract during Monday Night Raw – WWE Update
It was announced by the WWE’s official that WWE Champions, John Cena and CM Punk are going to sign the contract for the “WWE Champion Vs WWE Champion” match tonight during Monday Night Raw segment.
Just before six days from their WWE Championship match at SummerSlam, both WWE Champions would appear during Monday Night Raw not only for signing the contract but also for competing in their bouts. WWE’s pay-per-view event, SummerSlam will be taking place
on August 14 in Los Angeles.
The storyline between Cena and Punk started two months before on June 20 when Punk became the Number one contender for WWE Championship. One week after becoming the Number one contender, Punk was suspended by WWE Chairman on June 27 due to his misconduct
with WWE Chairman himself and WWE superstars. Next week, WWE Champion, Cena forced WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon and reinstated Punk to Monday Night Raw. Furthermore, Punk’s contract was to be expired on July 17.
The Second City Saviour, Punk won the WWE belt on July 17 at Money in the Bank and left WWE with his title. Next day, WWE Chairman introduced another belt and conducted WWE Championship tournament for it. In the same segment, the new Chief Operating Officer,
Triple H relieved WWE Chairman from his duties. Next week, Rey Mysterio won the Championship tournament on July 25. But the COO, Triple H put him into a rematch against Cena.
The Champ won the title once again from Mysterio but Punk also came back to Monday Night Raw in the same segment. Punk was also in possession of the WWE title that he captured over Cena at Money in the Bank last week.
Next week, Punk claimed that he was the WWE Champion as he won the title over Cena while Cena claimed that he was the WWE Champion as Punk left WWE and he retained his title over Mysterio again. The COO solved that situation by announcing a “WWE Champion
Vs WWE Champion” match last week on August 1. The contract signing ceremony for that fight will be taken place tonight during Monday Night Raw.
