WWE: Christian vs. Drew McIntyre on SmackDown
Drew McIntyre is one of the most aggressive wrestlers in the world of professional wrestling. He is not only destructive in the ring, but he has contacts in the professional wrestling establishment. Drew McIntyre has often used his contacts to take part in main event level matches. Since the past few weeks, many wrestling pundits have begun doubting the wrestling ability of ‘The Chosen One’, and argued that the Sinister Scotsman may not be a great wrestler.
Drew McIntyre received a chance to prove his in-ring fighting ability when it was announced that Drew will clash with Christian in a one-on-one wrestling match on SmackDown. Drew McIntyre knew that a loss could cast serious doubts on his chances to become a main event wrestler on SmackDown.
On the other hand, Christian is a veteran wrestler and is the former ECW World Heavyweight champion. Many young wrestlers look up to Christian for support and guidance. Christian knew that his reputation was at stake and he needed to win the match at all costs.
Both wrestlers squared off in the ring and waited for the sound of the ring bell. It was Christian who started the attack and cornered Drew McIntyre to deliver a blow to his head. Drew McIntyre replied as he jumped in the air and landed with his boot on Christian’s face. Christian shifted the momentum of the match as he tossed Drew McIntyre high in the air and threw him on the concrete floor.
Christian then tried to deliver a baseball slide to Drew McIntyre’s chest. Drew McIntyre rolled away in time and saved himself. However, that did not deter Christian as he delivered a stylish but effective standing drop kick to Drew McIntyre’s jaw. Drew McIntyre received the kick and fell on the ring floor with a deafening, almost final thud. But then Drew McIntyre adopted an intelligent and brilliant strategy: he rolled beneath the ring. Christian went to take out Drew McIntyre, but Drew grabbed his shoulder and banged it on the steel beneath the ring. That was catastrophic for Christian, as he screamed in pain and anguish.
Drew McIntyre picked up Christian and took him back inside the ring. He immediately went for the cover, but Christian kicked out before the final count of three. Drew McIntyre tried to win the match another way as he delivered a close line to Christian and threw him outside the ring. Christian needed to come back in the ring before the count of 10, otherwise he risked being disqualified. Christian dramatically jumped in the ring as the referee counted till nine and survived the match. Drew McIntyre then showed the professional wrestling world exactly why he is characterized as an aggressive wrestler, as he picked Christian high in the air and banged his back on the ring floor.
Both wrestlers were completely battered after receiving solid blows from each other. No one was ready to back down, and it seemed for a moment that this match would drag on forever. Drew McIntyre gathered all his strength and tried to execute his wrestling finisher, which involves banging his opponent’s head hard on the ring floor. Christian, who is a veteran wrestler, countered this move and went for the cover.
However, this was not an ordinary cover as Christian put all his weight on Drew McIntyre’s shoulders so that Drew could not kick out. Drew McIntyre tried his best to kick out of the cover but the referee counted till three with Drew McIntyre’s shoulders touching the ring floor. Christian won the match and immediately rolled out of the ring. It was a huge loss for Drew McIntyre, as he never expected to lose from Christian. Drew McIntyre certainly needs to do something to get back his original (and fast-fading) fame and glory, and restore his reputation in front of the professional wrestling world.
