WWE News: Drew McIntyre beats Kofi Kingston; qualifies for Money in the Bank Ladder Match
It was a few days back when Drew McIntyre was humiliated in the ring in front of millions of wrestling fans and was taken away by U.S. immigration officials when they found out that Drew McIntyre is living illegally in the country. The former Inter Continental Champion, Drew McIntyre vowed in front of the professional wrestling world that he will return and participate in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at all costs.
After selection of Dolph Ziggler, there was only one spot left for the Smack Down wrestling superstars to impress the world and mark their spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. The General Manager of Smack Down, Teddy Long announced that Drew McIntyre will have to face the current Inter Continental Champion Kofi Kingston in a one-on-one match. Drew McIntyre had to beat Kofi Kingston and qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
Drew McIntyre knew that he did not have a lot of luck with the current Inter Continental Champion. Kofi Kingston had already defeated Drew McIntyre in the past two occasions. Kofi Kingston also defeated Drew McIntyre to win the prestigious Inter Continental Championship. But this time around, Drew McIntyre knew that it is the opportunity of a life time which is at stake in the fight against Kofi Kingston.
Both wrestlers entered the arena and faced each other in the ring. It was evident that the crowd was heavily biased in favour of the champion Kofi Kingston and hated Drew McIntyre for his past arrogant actions.
The match started when Kofi Kingston trapped the head of Drew McIntyre in a vicious head lock. Drew McIntyre used all his power but his head was firmly trapped in the arms of Kofi Kingston. Drew McIntyre then freed himself from the head lock after he delivered some hard core punches to the abdomen of Kofi Kingston.
The two wrestlers fought back and forth throughout the match. No wrestler was willing to back down and it seemed that this match will drag on for ever and no wrestler was willing to resign. Soon afterwards, Kofi Kingston rolled in the air and delivered a hard kick to the jaw of Drew McIntyre. For a moment, it seemed that the match had ended as Kofi Kingston went for the cover and the referee started counting to three.
But just micro seconds before the last count, Drew McIntyre raised his shoulder and sent a message to the locker room that he has what it takes to be in the Money in the Bank ladder Match. Even all the fans, who apparently hated Drew McIntyre for his arrogant behaviour, started cheering for him as he showed tremendous courage and the will to win the match.
There was electricity in the air as every move of both these wrestlers was unpredictable. It turned into an epic match where both wrestlers fought on equal footing. It was anybody’s match as the winner was one wrestling finisher away from winning the fight.
Then Drew McIntyre executed his infamous wrestling finisher and banged the head of Kofi Kingston on the ring floor. The match was all over as Drew McIntyre went for the cover and the referee counted to three with both shoulders of Kofi Kingston on the ring floor.
It is hard to predict those wrestlers who will see their careers shortened or ended at the match. But after all the carnage and chaos, only one wrestler will win the Money in the Bank. That wrestler will earn the exclusive right to fight the World Heavy Weight Champion up for one consecutive year.
