WWE RAW 900th Episode Roundup: 5-on-5 Tag Team Elimination Match - The Nexus vs RAW Superstars
It was a glory in the making and a true landmark for World Wrestling Entertainment, as the 900th episode of RAW went on air at Boston. The proceedings started with Brett Hart entering to the roar of thousand of WWE fans and expressing his affection for WWE, saying that it was him and The Undertaker who were there when the show started back in 1993, and were still a part of the longest running television program in history. He was soon interrupted by World Heavyweight Champion Kane who was of the view that The Undertaker’s career was over and it was only him who would rule the show. Kane delivered Hart a massive Choke-Slam on the mat and was amazed at the email sent in by the (anonymous) General Manager of Raw, stating that Brett Hart would face The Undertaker that night in a one-on-one encounter.
The Miz & Alex Riley fought in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match against Daniel Bryan & Kaval and Kofi Kingston & Michael McGillicutty, and it was the United States Champion who secured the win for his part. A furious Bryan bashed Mr. Money in the Bank over his head with his contract briefcase after the match in a fury. The athletic John Morrison teamed up with R-Truth and took on the duo of Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre in a match to determine the number one contender for bronze titles. With every superstar fuming harder than the other, the match ended in a Double Disqualification when all four superstars stepped into the ring at the same time and did not leave despite the referee’s count.
Brett Hart was next up in the ring to meet The Deadman, The Undertaker upon the match set up earlier in the night by the General Manager of RAW. Both men met each other with utter respect but just when the match was about to begin, Wade Barrett stepped in saying that he does not want the match to take place as his team did not like the two old veterans. Soon Kane was seen in the ring alongside five members of The Nexus, expressing their rage over The Phenom.
CM Punk with his Straight Edge Society upheld the task of humiliating the WWE Superstars, especially targeting Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. But when he turned to Big Show, The World’s Largest Athlete did not keep his cool and rather came out insulting Punk. Big Show slapped him across his chest with a massive paw and forced Luke Gallows to make his ‘Society’ leave the ring.
In the Women’s action, it was Eve Torres and Melina who stepped up to face Layla and Michelle McCool. Melina was soon able to cover McCool for a win. ‘Lay-Cool’ challenged Melina to a Unification title match at Night of Champions and stated that if the two win, there would be one championship belt called the Unified Diva’s title, but Melina added more spice to her words by making the match a Lumberjack Match.
The main event of show was a 5-on-5 Tag Team Elimination Match between The Nexus (David Otunga, Justin Gabriel, Michael Tarver, Heath Slater and Wade Barrett) and Raw superstars that included WWE Champion Sheamus, Edge, Chris Jericho, Randy Orton and John Cena. Lack of unity and trust proved fatal for Team Raw; as tensions between Jericho and Edge inflated more, both did not last for long after entering to the ring, which left Team Raw to 3 on 5 against Nexus. The Celtic Warrior was soon taken down by Heath Slater, leaving Cena and Orton into a 5 on 2 situation. Ruthless Cena took the charge, managing to get rid of Slater and then Otunga, but found himself in hot water when Justin Gabriel delivered a 450° Splash and gaining the pain. With this, The Viper was left all alone in the ring for Team Raw against 3 members of Nexus including Gabriel, Tarver and Barrett. Orton kept on playing his dirty games by curbing Gabriel and Tarver back to the dressing room, but nonetheless became victim of Barrett’s offence, making The Nexus victorious by the end of the night.
