WWE Raw Episode 902 Recap
With just six days away from a grand pay per view, The Night of Champions, Raw episode #902 kicked in dashing style at Cincinnati, Ohio. With the General Manager still anonymous, it was the Roulette wheel who was yet again the centre of attraction for the WWE Universe, deciding all matches for the night.
Guest host planned for the night was the all-time great Chad Ochocinco, who was given an enthusiastic welcome by the fans. His party was cut short by the United States Champion The Miz, who intervened his speech and started disgracing the living legend. Miz’s fate was soon decided when Alicia Fox spin the roulette wheel, only to find Miz in a submission match with Daniel Bryan. The match was full on thrill and action, as The Miz sidelined by Alex Riley locked Bryan in successive figure four locks, but Bryan rolled out every time. Bryan then held Miz with LeBell lock, which made him suffer from Hernia, forfeiting the game as usual. Alex Riley opted to fight in his place, but not long before the strong Bryan made him tap out. Miz might have scampered through this time, but he cannot get out of Bryan’s way in future.
Edge was put in a Body Slam challenge against Evan Bournes when route wheel was spin. Edge, who predominantly was more experienced and charismatic superstar in the match, secured an easy win over the athletic Bournes but continued assaulting him with a spear after the match ended. With the Rated- R superstar disrespecting Bournes, it raised alarms for another Body Slam match, which let Mark Henry enter into the ring, splashing Edge with World Strongest Slam to secure the victory. Misery, however, continued between Edge and the hidden General Manager of RAW as a furious Edge lay helpless in the centre after the match.
Gail Kim spun the wheel for R-Truth and Eve Torres, which put them in a Song and Dance match against Ted DiBiase & Maryse. Each member of the team had to sing a song, while the other was supposed to dance at the same time. R-Truth and Eve started off the proceedings and sung cranky number to the amazement of fans who acted as chorus. DiBiase disregarded their act and sung ‘My Way’ with Maryse dancing in at the song’s lyrics. Fans however, rated the couple of R-Truth and Torres above DiBiase and Maryse, and then the former couple was declared winner of the competition.
In one of the most unusual matches in WWE, William Regal and GoldDust were put up in a Trading Places Match, where each superstar has to wear other’s costume, enter at each other’s music and use opponent’s tactics to win. Regal, appearing as GoldDust started biting and horrifying around, but it was GoldDust who took out brass knuckles from his trunks and pinned Regal soon in the game.
In yet another enchanting encounter, for John Morrison after his win over Jericho last week, he fought WWE Champion Sheamus in a falls count anywhere match in a quest to earn a place in Six Pack Challenge at Night of Champions. Morrison showed great commitment in the game, getting the Celtic Warrior at ringside and delivering kicks after kicks and showing ruthless aggression. Morrison was soon driven back to the ring by Sheamus, devastating him with a back breaker followed by veracious power slam. The duo battled in the entrance area, Jericho appeared from behind the stage with a steel chair. The Irishman got the opportunity soon to cover the high flying superstar for the victory.
The main event for the night was the Tables match between Randy Orton and John Cena, the two most enthralling superstars of WWE. The two men exchanged blows in the centre of the ring with Orton putting Cena in a belly-to-belly supplex before the team of Nexus lead by Barrett invaded the ring. The five members assaulted Cena and Orton repeatedly before being thrown on to the already set tables. Cena grabbed Orton, making him go in to the ring and was all ready for Attitude Adjustment but the Viper soon countered the manoeuvre delivery by Cena, RKO over the table for the win, ending the night in style.
