RAW proved why it is the longest running television episode as WWE concluded yet another round of WWE Slammy Awards 2010 at The New Orleans Arena, Louisiana.
The highlight of the night was John Cena’s rehiring by Nexus leader Wade Barrett, who was threatened to call Cena back by his team members, else the Englishman was going to be left alone. The credit however, must be given to WWE Universe who played their
part by voting John Cena the WWE Superstar of the year, a well deserved award decided by voting over wwe.com.
Cena, who has stood fast against the odd throughout the year, such as Batista, Shaemus, The Miz and The Nexus, was ranked above The Viper Randy Orton and The Rated-R superstar Edge over the nomination. But there was one man who was utterly displeased with
Cena reaching the glory, Wade Barrett. To grasp revenge, Cena was put on a one-on-one fight against David Otunga. Unluckily for Otunga, he failed to open his score at Cena, thus tapping to an STF to help Cena get the win. After the match, a frenzied Cena blew
the flown out of Nexus member by delivering a series of steel chair shots and apparently sending a silent message to his opponent for TLC match Wade Barrett.
Tensions between Randy Orton and the crew of WWE Champion, The Miz continued to grow further as Orton was forced to a 2-on-1 handicap match when he took on the team of Alex Riley and David Arquette. The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Arquette gave
Orton a tough time, but the Viper overpowered the duo by giving Miz’s agent Riley RKO. After the match, Miz who was ringside tried to give his TLC opponent a taste of table, only to have misjudged leading to Arquette being the victim.
WWE Universe took another wise step and paid a tremendous tribute to their hero Shawn Michaels, The Heart Break Kid by nominating him with the title of WWE Moment of the Year after he shook hands with Bret Hart. Michaels did not let his fans down and made
it to the show via satellite. Although the great one is not in the business anymore but there are a number of fans who still believe that the charismatic superstar will join the ring once again with a spark.
The Rated-R superstar Edge who has been a nightmare for Kane and his abducted father Paul Bearer staged to the ring and asked for a ruthless aggression from Jack Swagger calling him ‘stupid’. The American who was already ramped after losing to Mysterio last
night responded in a rather vicious manner. However, the Ultimate Opportunist proved to be the better superstar in the ring, countering off to Swagger’s ankle lock into a thundering spear for the win. Later in the night, Edge won “Oh snap” Meltdown Slammy
award for crushing GM’s laptop while being maddened couple of months back.
The team Lay-Cool finally had something to cheer about as Michelle McCool was awarded with WWE Slammy Diva of the Year award. More spices were added to their party as the two managed to grab the Slammy Award for Knucklehead Moment of the year when they lost
to Mae Young. The celebration for them was cut short by the anonymous Raw General Manager who announced that Lay-Cool will be competing against the team of WWE Diva’s Champion Natalya and Beth Pheonix this Sunday at the first ever Diva’s Tag Team TLC match.
The violence between John Morrison and Shaemus took another turn at RAW when the anonymous General Manager thought that the best way to settle their difference was to put them in a Ladder’s match at TLC where the winner takes all.
Wade Barrett and his men who have been annoying the entire WWE Universe ever since their arrival into the WWE chipped in with the Shocker of the Year Slammy Award. Barrett regrettably, was thrown into a shocker too when the Guest Raw General Manager David
Arquette threw him in a one-on-one fight with The Big Show. Barrett who could not withstand against the power of World’s Largest Athlete, cowardly ran away from the match with his Slammy award, allowing Show to register a win under his belt.
