WWE and World Heavyweight Championship matches announced for the upcoming pay-per-view segment, Vengeance
WWE has announced three main matches for the upcoming pay-per-view event, Vengeance, after the strong bouts during last Monday Night Raw event. Vengeance will take place on October 23 at AT&T Centre in San Antonio, Texas.
The first match announced was the WWE Championship match between The WWE Champion, Alberto Del Rio, and John Cena.
The Mexican Aristocrat, Del Rio won the WWE Championship in the last pay-per-view segment, h**l in the Cell, by fully exploiting his incredible abilities.
Since Cena was the WWE Champion at that time, he was given the second title shot as per the re-match clause.
The Monday Night Raw segment that occurred on October 10 raised many controversies. The COO, Triple H, was relieved of his Raw Supershow duties and John Laurinaitis held control of Raw as the Interim Raw General Manger.
John made several changes in the Raw roster. As he took charge of the Monday Night Raw segment, he immediately announced Cena vs Del Rio for the WWE Championship at Vengeance.
Another major change that he brought about was firing Jim Ross while rehiring The Miz and R-Truth.
The second fight for the pay-per-view event was announced between The Big Show and Mark Henry for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The World’s Strongest Man, Henry, conquered his first ever World title against The Viper, Randy Orton, at the Night of Champions on September 18.
The re-match for the World Championship between Henry and The Viper was conducted on October 2. The World’s Strongest Man, once again, retained his title.
The Big Show returned in the Friday Night SmackDown event, held on October 7, after recovering from the injuries inflicted on him by his rival, Henry.
The Big Show amazingly wiped out the World Champion by chokeslamming Henry onto the announce table. The Interim Raw GM announced the World Championship match between them in accordance with their old rivalry.
The third interesting fight, announced by The Interim GM, was the tag team fight between the team of CM Punk and Triple H against the team of R-Truth and The Miz.
Earlier on, the Interim Raw GM, John rehired Miz and Truth at the end of the segment and put them into a fight against Del Rio and Punk.
Del Rio left the ring while Miz and Truth kept beating Punk. That is when the former COO, Triple H ran towards the ring and made the save. Taking notice of the situation, John announced the tag team match between them.
WWE finalised the above three matches for the pay-per-view segment so far. The remaining pay-per-view competitions will be decided in the upcoming regular Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown editions according to the rivalries between the superstars.
