WWE announces new matches for pay-per-view event “Night of Champions” – WWE Update
Monday Night Raw featured two new matches for the WWE’s pay-per-view event “Night of Champions”. WWE announced Tag Team Championship and WWE’s Divas Champion matches tonight for the PPV event.
Night of Champions will be conducted on September 18 at First Niagara Centre in New York. The first match was announced between WWE Divas Champion, Kelly Kelly and the Number one contender Beth Phoenix. The most powerful Diva, Phoenix became the Number one
contender once again after defeating Eve Torres during Monday Night Raw on September 5. Phoenix already had grabbed the Number one contender spot against the same Divas Champion Kelly and she was set to fight against her at SummerSlam. However, Phoenix could
not cash in on this opportunity against Kelly and lost the match at SummerSlam on August 14. She once again grabbed the opportunity after defeating Eve and now will face Kelly at Night of Champions.
The second match announced was The Tag Team Championship match between the Champions, Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston against The Miz and R-Truth. The Tag Team Champions faced Jinder Mahal and The Great Khali in a non-title match and defeated them. Soon after
the Divas fight The Miz and Truth came out and Miz announced their match against The Tag Team Champions for Night of Champions.
WWE had already announced the following three matches for the Night of Champions. The WWE Champion, Alberto Del Rio will face the Number one contender and the former WWE Champion, John Cena at Night of Champions. Cena captured the championship match after
defeating the Second City Saviour, CM Punk. The World Heavyweight Champion was set to face the World’s Strongest Man, Mark Henry who became the Number one contender after winning the 20-Man Battle Royal at SmackDown.
The most important match of Night of Champions is the No Disqualification and No Rules match between The COO, Triple H and CM Punk. The match is very dangerous as both superstars have put their careers on the line in this match. If Punk loses the match,
he will be fired and if Triple H loses, he will have to resign from the post of COO.
