WWE nominates the former World Champion Edge as the Superstar of the month April
WWE announced the former World Heavyweight Champion, Edge, as a Superstar for the month of April. The announcement was made at Monday Night Raw tapings tonight. The former World Champion Edge also appeared in the Raw tapings.
The Rated-R Superstar Edge continuously defended his World Championship last month, despite of his shoulder injury. Nevertheless, he retired from WWE as a World Heavyweight Champion. Edge announced his retirement on April 11, at Monday Night Raw.
In the month of April, Edge along with his lifelong friend Christian, was feuding with Mexican, Alberto Del Rio and his protégé, Brodus Clay. The rival between Del Rio and Edge started when Del Rio won the Royal Rumble 2011 on January 30, 2011. Edge defended
his World Championship at WrestleMania XXVII against Del Rio. WrestleMania, the biggest WWE pay-per-view event took place on April 3, at Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. Edge smashed Del Rio’s car also at WrestleMania.
Edge was in second spot in the Power 25 list of April 2. The Academy of Wrestling Science and Arts kept Edge at second place after WrestleMania XXVII match on April 9. The first place was given to The Undertaker due to WrestleMania's winning-streak victory
over Triple H.
Del Rio won the number one contender match for World Championship over Christian on April 8. Edge was declared medically unfit due to spinal injury and was forced to retire. Edge declared retirement due to the medical report. He relinquished the World title
belt on April 15, at Friday Night SmackDown. In the same show, Christian won the Battle Royal for second contestant of vacant world title. Edge was placed on the top of the Power 25 that was updated on April 16. In this way, The Ultimate Opportunist, Edge,
left WWE as a World Champion and leader of Power 25 list.
He appeared for two times in WWE after his retirement. Once he appeared in retirement party by Del Rio on April 22. Secondly, he appeared at Extreme Rules on May 1, when Christian won the World title in a Ladder Match. Due to his tremendous performance in
the month of April, Edge was honoured with another position during his career in WWE. He was announced the Superstar of the month of April.
