Basically three related questions:

What food did the Germans eat during WWII?

What German Food was rationed during WWII?

What kinds of food were hard to get in Germany? (due to the embargo by the brits. I know this question is a lot like the second one)

  1. the rations

Everyone was allowed 16 points per month to use on what ever food items they wished.

This was later increased to 20 points per month.

Of course the items purchased still had to be paid for.

In addition they also had a daily pint of milk and a double supply of eggs as well as Cod Liver Oil and Orange Juice; although egg rationing varied from between one every two weeks during the Winter to 3 or 4 during the Spring and Summer months. Children under five were allowed half the normal meat ration and children between five and sixteen who held blue ration books were allowed fruit, a full meat ration and half a pint of milk per day

    WHAT DID THEY EAT

My father risked imprisonment many times by paying for black market bread and bringing it home under a pile of rabbit food to feed his starving family. Many times I helped to take the family soup (mainly water and vegetables) to the Soup Kitchens to be heated as there was no form of heating available in the house. A great treat was a jelly made with seaweed.have one slice of bread on our plates and that was it.We had very little to eat and a carrot to chew was a treat as sweets would be today.potatos  any thing they could find

  2. potatos and bread!
