WWII archives online?

Question

My grandpa was in WWII and I was wondering if anyone knew of any sites you can find online that let you search for any archives or documents that would let me find anything about my gpa. He was an orphan and didn't tell my gma much about his past before they were together so his whole life is a mystery, even to my dad. His few living distant relatives won't say much either. Just looking for some info or advice!! Thanks!

This isn't the answer you wanted ... but... my dad was in WWII. From photos, the command patch he wore is nowhere to be found. The stories he told have inconsistencies regarding what he did and where he was. I have turned over every leaf I know of including writing across the pond to the Brits.... there has never been a useful response. Based on my experience... don't expect much.
