Wachiramanowong overpowers Peng in the initial qualifying round – Toyota Challenger 2012
Thai contender, Kittipong Wachiramanowong, gave his Chinese Taipei rival, Hsien-Yin Peng, a straight-sets defeat in the initial qualifying round of the Toyota Challenger 2012 held at the carpet courts of Japan. Wachiramanowong
consolidated his success, 6-3, 7-5, on the eve of Saturday in nearly 58 minutes.
The two professionals battled against one another at the indoor hard courts of Japan at the Yokohama Challenger, which took place earlier this November. The Thai participant jolted down his triumph, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, after a breath-taking
three-setter in the second qualifying round of the ATP Challenger.
The 22-year-old Chinese professional took the front and began a sloppy start in the opener. Despite of his former loss, he confidently marched forward and drew the first blood. However, his hopes to secure the upper hand dashed
down when the score line evened out to 2-all for the first time in the fourth game. Wachiramanowong sustained his rival’s pressure and gradually constructed the momentum of the sport. After squaring the score line twice, he completely crumpled his opponent
and beautifully pulled out of the opener with a 6-3 lead.
In the second set, Peng was ready to avenge his former defeat and cashed on his rival’s serve in the third game, marking a 3-1 lead. The right-hander Thai participant appeared inactive for the earlier part of the set but started
to bash his competitor towards the closing stages. He brought down the scores to 5-all in the 10th game and after that point and terminated the match with a 7-5 victory.
The 22-year-old Thai contender fired three aces and secured 69 percent initial serve accuracy. He confidently converted 19 of 27 first and six of 12 second serve points without facing any ordeal. On the other hand, Peng bagged
home a comparatively better first serve presentation and did not even once double fault. He secured 16 of 29 first and four of five second serve points. He lost his lead in the contest since he simply capitalized on one of the four break points and his rival
snatch away all the two opportunities.
