Wade Barrett vs. Mark Henry on RAW
Nexus has accomplished a lot since the group started attacking and decimating different wrestling superstars in the World Wrestling Entertainment. However, no Nexus member had ever entered the squared ring on a one-on-one competition with a professional wrestler. But as they say, the only thing permanent in this world is change.
It was announced on last Monday Night RAW that Wade Barrett will face off against the world’s strongest man, Mark Henry in a one-on-one match. The fight included a stipulation which stated that all Nexus members other then Wade Barrett would be barred from the ring side during the match.
It was a test for the leader of Nexus and it was important for him to win the match. The advantages of a win were many as it could establish his credibility as the leader of Nexus and as a powerful force in WWE. Wade Barrett walked towards the arena as almost everyone in the crowd booed him. As Mark Henry entered the arena and walked towards the ring, the crowd roared and screamed for the worlds’ strongest man. Mark Henry was injured from last night as he was wearing bandages on his head when he participated in the brutal Money in a Bank Ladder Match some 24 hours ago.
However, it was the world’s strongest man, Mark Henry who regained some momentum early in the match when he delivered a hard head butt on the head of Wade Barrett. Wade Barrett fell on the ring floor and then rolled out of the ring. It seemed for a moment that Wade Barrett did not have the strength to take on the world’s strongest man. But Wade Barrett changed the thoughts of many people as he entered the ring and delivered his knee to the abdomen of Mark Henry.
That was the time when the match started to heat up as both wrestlers employed vicious wrestling moves against each other. Mark Henry cornered Wade Barrett to throw in some heavy punches. He then grabbed the head of Wade Barrett and slammed it on the top turn buckle. Mark Henry then delivered a running close line to knock down Wade Barrett. The close line was followed by an effective and quick scoop slam on Wade Barrett. However, Henry then tried to end the match as he tried to go for a quick cover. However, Wade Barrett knew that his reputation was at stake which was why he raised his shoulder before the referee could finish the three-count.
When Wade Barrett was lying on the ring floor, Mark Henry tried to climb on the second turn buckle. This is usually the time when the world’s strongest man lands on the abdomen of his opponent. But just when Mark Henry was about to finish the match, all Nexus members entered the arena.
Though the Nexus members did not interfere in the match, but they distracted Mark Henry who looked at them and prepared himself for a possible attack. This distraction gave enough time to Wade Barrett to launch an attack. An opportunist wrestler to say the least, Wade Barrett stood in the ring and kicked the jaw of Mark Henry.
Wade Barrett then prepared himself for the most difficult of wrestling finishers. This wrestling finisher involved picking Mark Henry on his shoulders and then slamming the world’s strongest man on the ring floor. Wade Barrett did exactly the same as the group members of Nexus approved the move. Wade Barrett quickly went for the cover and the referee counted to three with both shoulders of Mark Henry touching the ring floor.
It was a big day for Nexus as the first time in WWE history, one of their group members won a one-on-one fight. Moreover, this was no ordinary fight as a Nexus member had won against the world’s strongest man.
It has officially been announced that the Nexus members will clash against the team of John Cena at the upcoming Summer Slam. It will be an epic match as two of the most dominant forces in WWE will fight with each other for power and supremacy.
