Wahab's ability to exploit old ball earned him a call - Mohsin Khan
The interim coach of Pakistan cricket team Mohsin Khan has defended PCB selectors’ decision to recall left-arm pacer, Wahab Riaz, for the upcoming England series, saying that his ability to exploit the old ball and get reverse swing would be crucial for
the team on UAE pitches.
"We wanted Wahab because he exploits the old ball well and gets reverse swing," said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-Hasan-Khan-c77595 while talking to the media reporters on Tuesday. "These will be important for us on the pitches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi," he added further.
Wahab Riaz has not played a match for Pakistan since the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 tour in May this year. He was picked up for the Sri Lanka series in October, but was later sent back home as an undercover reporter told the jury at Southwark Crown Court of London that
the pacer was one of the Pakistani players who have reportedly been working for a bookie, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448 Majeed.
But http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wahab-Riaz-c95839 and all other players considered for selection had been cleared to play by the Integrity Committee of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Mohsin http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 (in UAE) and Bangladesh (in Bangladesh).
Mohsin was expected to get back to his chief selector role after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board has not found a full time head coach yet, he was retained as the interim coach for the England series as well.
Khan also shunned away talks in British media that the 2010 infamous tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 will be on the minds of Misbah and his men when they take the field against Andrew Strauss’ armour next month, saying what had happened in the past is history now and they
will be looking forward to a fresh start.
"The roles of the referee and umpires will be significant," said the former Pakistan Test cricketer. "Whatever has happened in the past is history. We are looking ahead now. For us it is a fresh start,” he insisted.
Pakistan will kick off the England series with a Test match in Dubai on January 17 next year. The three-match Test series will be followed by a four-match ODI series and three T20 Internationals.
