Wahab Riaz needs to work on his run-up, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jalaluddin-c65364 – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jalal-ud-Din-c65363, the former fast bowler from Pakistan, believes that Wahab Riaz has the potential to deliver the goods at the international level but feels that the left-arm fast bowler needs to improve his run-up to be more effective.
Wahab came through the ranks of junior cricket in the country and represented Pakistan at the Under-17 and Under-19 levels before making his way to the senior team in 2008.
The 26-year-old made a name for himself when he grabbed a five-wicket haul on his Test debut against England at the Oval in 2010 and helped Pakistan win that match. Later, he made a huge impact in the semi-final of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket
World Cup 2011 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at Mohali in a losing cause.
However, since then, he has had a rough ride in international sport and has been in and out of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 tour
in 2010 and that is one of the reasons why he has not played a lot of cricket since the last one year.
Jalal, who himself was a quality fast bowler in his playing days, believes that the left-arm fast bowler has the talent but he needs proper guidance to eradicate the faults in his run-up towards the crease.
“http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wahab-Riaz-c95839 is a very good bowler and there are a lot of good things about him. However, one thing I have noticed about him is his run up. For bowlers, especially fast bowlers, all their weaknesses begin with the run up. If your
run up is good, then everything else falls into place,” he expressed while talking to
Pakpassion.
The former cricketer, who is one of the very few qualified coaches in the country, said that Wahab needs to take shorter paces while running towards the crease, which will help him to be more accurate.
Jalal mentioned, “I think everything else about him is alright - he can move the ball and he has also got pace. He just needs to improve the run up so he goes from smaller strides to larger strides gradually.”
