  1. I Love you, is NOT normally the sort of thing you would just say to friends

    Unless you're drunk

or they had just done something VERY nice

  2. I think I know what you're asking. Languages like Italian, French,Welsh, Portuguese etc have a second person singular for a person you know well or a child but use the second person plural for someone you don't. eg

If you wanted to say 'your brother' to 1) a close friend, 2) a stranger, you would say:

    Italian...1)Tuo fratello. 2) Suo fratello

French...1) Ton frère. 2) Votre frère.

Welsh...1) Dy frawd. 2) Eich brawd.

Portuguese...1) Teu irmão. 2) Seu irmão.

English used to have a second person singular but it's not used any more. 1) Thy brother. 2) Your brother.

Thou, thee, thy are not used any more.Everyone, whether you know them well or not are called 'you'.

I think English has lost something by getting rid of these.

(It kind of explains the difference

We say I love you to alot of things. It all depends on the voice tone. We use it for passion, just to be friendly and to show that we really want something in our lives, such as a shirt.Ti Amo means in love so what we would use it as passion.

We say I love you most of the time as you would say Ti voglio bene)

  4. yeah we say i love you to family, friends as well as the people we are truly in love with...it just means different thing depending on who you say it to like if you say "i love you" to your dad...of course that won't be the same kind of love that you have when you say "i love you" to your boyfriend or something...
