  1. IDK where these guys heard about hitting the jaw but they should check their sources. The worst way to get hit in the head is if the hit it coming from the side. You have to look at the brain inside of the skull as a yoke inside of an egg shell. If you get hit from the front, the skull moves back and forth while moving the brain with it. But if you get hit on the side and it causes your head to twist, your brain has a better chance of hitting more areas of the skull because it is in that spinning motion. And when your brain hits your skull hard enough, the brain will send a signal to the body to shut off in order to portect it from further damage (being knocked out).

  2. Don't hit the jaw if you are looking for a knock out, that will just get your hands broken, although hitting either side at a downward angle works some times, an upper cut would be your best bet.

Go for the temple if you really want to knock some one out (warning, you can also give someone brain damage, and possable death if you hit here)

  3. You normally want to aim directly for the front of the chin. Pressing the Mandible into the Temporal Bone, will pinch a nerve (well, a few nerves) and send a "shock" to the brain. To protect itself, the brain will temporarily shut down. Lights out. If that dosen't work, a clean hook to the jaw can achieve the same effect, except in a sideways motion. Not quite as easy though.
