Waht would happen if earth got hit with a gravitational wave?

i just found out if a black hole collides with another black hole it is a gigantic explosion knows as a gravitational wave so what would happen if earth got hit with 1?

A gravitaional wave is a wave the propegates through spacetime. This ungelation of spacetime would cause the demensions of all matter struck by the wave to change according to the wave. ie- Length to contract/expand, width to contract/expand and so on.

in wiki i read, in theory gravitational waves could exist in any frequency. i am beginning to think that in theory means here is something to think about.so maybe that is why i get static on my radio.

I'm guessing you want to know what happens when Earth got hit with one wave. With Einstein's space-time model, where gravity is just a space-time plane bended by a mass, a wave would be a plane moving up and down in harmonic motion. maybe we will be oscillating from the sun to the spot where collision occurred. If the gravitational wave is strong, we would be sucked out of the solar system.

I am just a first year uni physics student but that's just what I think.
