Wahyu Nayaka, Ade Yusuf advance to quarter-finals of Indonesia International Challenge
Men’s Doubles partners Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pankaryanira and Ade Yusuf joined hands in second round of Prim-A Indonesia International Challenge and clutched a quarter-final spot on July 4, 2013.
They had to unseat a compatriot duo Tommy Al-Fajar-Rian Syaoqi who resisted for 30 minutes in local badminton arena of Surabaya, Indonesia. Though, this pre quarter-final tussle ended in just two games but still both teams displayed a commendable craft on
court while piling up the decisive figures of 21-18 and 24-22.
The twosome of Wahyu Nayaka and Ade Yusuf remained victorious but the other Indonesian pair also earned great deal of admiration for putting up a great show.
In first set of the match, Wahyu and Ade started with an aggressive approach and pushed their competitors on the back foot. Their game plan was so perfect that the opposing shuttlers remained busy just in returning their masterly crafted strokes.
Wahyu and Ade confounded their rivals with a blend of power packed smashes and deceiving drop net shots. Their superb coordination helped them to place a decent total of 11 before the announcement of break.
After the one-minute interval, the top seeded Indonesian duo injected more intensity in its attack and doubled the lead. Though, few mistakes allowed the opposing team to proceed in third quarter of the set but then a strong backlash of Wahyu-Ade changed
the scenario.
This opening game ended with scoreboard flashing a final result of 21-18 in the favour of Wahyu and Ade.
Both Men’s Doubles partners relished full benefits of this triumph in second set of match. Though, they had to face strong opposition but still they managed to wrap this segment of showdown in a favourable manner.
In first half of the set, Wahyu and Ade looked in supreme touch as they bagged many valuable points without any interruption and established a strong grip over game. They enjoyed a distinctive lead till the half time.
After the mid-game break, the twosome of Tommy and Rian also showed some spark and brought life back into contest. Both Indonesian teams remained equal on the points table till the final moments.
This nerve-racking tussle reached to conclusion when Wahyu-Ade registered a winning margin of 24-22. Now they are scheduled to meet Kenas Adi Haryanto-Kusdianto Seiko Wahyu in quarter-finals.
