The correct position for measuring waist circumference is midway between the upper hip bone and the lowest point of the rib cage. Measurement with the tape should be taken at this midway point. In cases where the mid point cannot be found (in very overweight people), placing the tape at the level of the belly button will have to do.

many ppl mistake waist as the area around the navel, actually ur waist can be above/at/below ur navel depending on whether u r short/balanced/long waisted..

So, the correct way to measure ur waist is around the narrowest part of ur torso/abdomen

Unless ur fat or obese, and cant find the narrowest part of ur belly,, then u can measure around the navel, at ur mid torso level
