wait wait wait! so wi-fi in laptops is installed on the cpu (processor)... so i mean its integreted on the cpu? meaning its on the same chip as cpu?

Only the functions of it, the rest still need the antenna to send/receive signal

Wi-Fi is NOT installed ONTO the Processor. the Wi-fi is a chip on the Motherboard.

No it's not. WiFi is a in on board chip or card that is either inserted into you laptop via USB port or PCMI Slot. What Intel is telling you about is all the features the processor has to offer. So it's not  the same chip and the CPU. The CPU is a chip a microprocessor.

Looks confusing, huh? That's because people associate the Centrino name with a processor. Centrino isn't a processor, it's a platform name. A laptop must meet certain criteria to be labeled with the Centrino name.

1.It must have a certain cpu,(Processor)

2.It must have a certain chipset,(Northbridge/Southbridge chipset)

3.It must have a certain wireless card.

(More 'hype' to sell their products. I did a quick search with 'Intel Centrino platform', in my browser search bar. None of the search 'hits' were very concise or clear. Mostly 'talked' about the Intel processor that would be used. I have known about the link above, from Wikipedia.org, for a long time. So does it sound like Intel hype to you?
