She is just competiting for United States of America because she moved when she was 2 1/2 years old(wikipedia)

Is like when Gigi Fernandez(born and raised in Puerto Rico) competed in I believe was 1996 Atlanta and won gold in female team doubles in tennis for USA.

  1. It doesn't matter where she was born both her parents are American citizens so that makes her an American.  


  2. What are you americans stupid or something? She was born in Moscow of the U.S.S.R., her parents are also from the soviet union. Her first language is russian, she routinely visits Moscow and her grandparents still live there. Her two favorite athletes are Lilia Podkopayeva and Svetlana Khorkina who are both Ukrainian and Russian. Her floor routine was done to Russian music and her routines are taught to her by her Soviet trained dad. She's 100% Russian.

  4. Yes. Her father and mother were former Olympians for Russia, her dad was a gold medalist in mens gymnastics and her mom was a rhythmic gymnast. They are for the most part Americans but they have ties to the ex-Soviet gymnastic community.
