it is time for another tattoo, i have been plotting this one for about 2 years now and finally am in a situation that allows for me to get it done. there is only one problem. my friend wants to get one with me so i have been drawing one for him too and i want to go in tomorrow and make my appointment for next week. i called him and told him where we are going for it and that i want to go in tomorrow and put down the deposit and he tells me that he can't afford it now but if a wait another 2 weeks or so he will be able to. i'm concerned that in 2 weeks he will tell me the same thing and before i know it it will be 2009 and i will still not have my tattoo. should i wait a while for him and risk him wasting my time or just say s***w it and get it done on my own. he is a good friend of mine, but when it comes to money he isn't very reliable.

  1. Well I would still make your appointment for yours, you have waited long enough, but invite him to come along if he would like to watch yours get done.

He can make his appointment when he is ready.

His time might be 2010 if you wait for him or maybe never.

  2. I would just go get it done on your own, because like you said he could keep saying he needs two more weeks every 2 weeks, so just tell him you want to get yours done now and he can go when he can afford it. I'm sure he won't care, and you'll get your tattoo :)

  3. Give him the two weeks after that get yours whether he has the money or not. If he is your true friend he will understand that it was his own fault.

  4. I wouldn't wait on him if he isn't reliable--

Why not make your appointment and then invite him to go with you to have it done, and then return the favor for him when he gets his act together.   That way you still get what you want, you have his moral support, and he has yours.  Everybody wins.

Congratulations on your first tattoo, it's nice to hear from someone who has actually put thought into it instead of randomly walking into the parlour and picking a piece of flash and being stuck with it forever (like I did with my first haha)  My second was much more thought out.

  5. I would do one of two things. 1) Give him the benefit of the doubt. Wait the two weeks, and if he isn't able to get his at that time, go without him. 2) Invite him to come with you while you get yours, and then go with him when he is finally able to get his. Whatever you do, don't lend him the money for his tattoo. Money can really damage a friendship. Hope your tattoo turns out well!

  6. You need to stop doing all his work for him. It sounds like you'd get his tattoo for him if you could! I understand this, because I am a helper, a fixer, and I have been stepped on my share because of it.

You have done more than enough for him, and you are putting off yourself because of him. You are not treating yourself as good as you treat others.

You need to do as much for yourself, and in this case that is getting you to the tattoo parlor for your tattoo.

Leave him in the dust and focus on yourself at this point. Do what you can for your tattoo. Put your focus on yourself and your body art. (He isn't)

When he is ready (if ever) he can take your hard work design and go to the tattoo parlor and tattooist, that you found, and get his tattoo.

Please don't make his appointment for him, pay his deposit, or any part of his bill. And also, you are not responsible for his tattoo aftercare. If he is old enough for a tattoo, then he needs to take charge of his own body art.

You need to quit micro managing others, while putting yourself in 2nd place!

You are just as important as anyone else. In fact, you should take your wants and needs into consideration, 1st. Then you will be a much more complete person, to help others.

    Get that tattoo!
