Wait list for 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid?

I am thinking of purchasing a ford escape hybrid while I'm home (Chicago) next month, does anyone have any idea how long the waiting list is?

Theres not really a waiting list here in western ny, but they are very hard to come by, very few dealers have them sitting on the lot for sale. That being said if you are willing to pay extra to have the dealer find and get one for you then it is possible to get one with a week or so. Keep in mind that unless you find a dealer that has one the dealer that finds one for you will probably have to pay a premium for the car so it will cost you more.

And FYI, you cant facotry order an 08' anymore since production has begun on the 09's and I just spoke to our Ford Rep today and he said it will be quite some time before they start producing the 09 hybrid.

Just in case you havnt figured it out I do work at a Ford dealership near buffalo, ny, and I take car of the new car inventory.

edit--- since i was bored I looked on the Ford locator for you and there are two dealers in the chicago region that have 2 each 4x4 hybrid escapes listed for public sale, Northwest Ford truck center, and Currie motors Ford of Frankfurt. as for FWD hybrid escapes in the chicago region, there is a dealer called McCarthy Ford that has 2 and a dealer called Gjovik Ford that has two. I didnt get phone numbers for you but i think you can handle it from there, I would call soon since these are going fast.
