  1. when you are kissing their rude asses to the max ...AND... it's still not good enough. When they tell you what they DON'T want...when you ask for the drink order and they stare at you like your an alien... and don't answer. ...when you have a big party and nobody is responding to your questions. When they order the wrong thing and act like it's your fault. Sunday when the rude cheap church people come in and give you h**l just because they can.

  3. I host & serve so, I have soooooooo many (note: this answer will probably be edited every hour until this question closes.)

*guests who say they are ready, yet they are not.

*guests who let their kids run amuck

*guests who use their menus as placemats

*guests who are upset with me, so they place their order with my busser or bartender.

*guests who switch seats (or worse, tables), then my food runner ends up placing food in the wrong spot

    *guests who sit themselves

*guests who don't want to sit where I place them (when I host)

*guests who switch up their order after I've put it in to the kitchen.

*guests who claim there is too much or too little booze in their drink (HOW IS THERE TOO MUCH BOOZE IN A DRINK!?)

*guests who linger wayyyyyyy to long after they've paid. It's always a deuce just chillin at the end of the night when you're set to close. And they're in LOOOOVEEEE! I don't mind if it's a big group (I know I'm getting a decent tip.)

*guests who want to turn a table so that they are sitting next to each each. (Really, you can't sit across from each for an hour or so. You have to be next to each other. Hand jobs at a restaurant are insanely trashy.)

*guests who use cell phones while at the table or in the dining room in general. Take it outside!

*crappy tippers - I work in fine dining, if you're dining at this level should not have to be told to tip. And folks who tip on the amount after a discount.

    *guests who run you around.

*guests who forget what they have ordered.

*guests who want checks split. Here is paper, pencil & a calculator... get to dividin'!!!

*guests who sit at dirty tables... why?

*guests who want to pull rank and say "I know the owner." Guess what... so do I and I bring him money. Guess who he likes more?!

*guests who are cheap and say things like "Are there free refills on alcoholic beverages?" or "Since I'm getting a drink without ice, shouldn't I pay less?" You're getting more beverage, you should be paying more!

*guests who flaunt being a vegetarian and order seafood. BRANZINO IS NOT A VEGETABLE!!!

*guests who flaunt being Kosher and eat at my restaurant. We're not a kosher restaurant. Just because you don't eat pork, doesn't make you Kosher. We ain't bringing in no rabbi to bless everything and getting special dishes or keeping meats & chesses in separate fridge's. And you go and order something with beef AND cheese! You suck at being a jew! Especially if your order pork right before heading to temple on a high holy day.

*guests who walk in at the peak dining hour on a Friday & Saturday and get upset when they can't get a table because of the responsible people who have made reservations. I throw the guilt back and say, "It would be a bit unethical of me to give away someone's table who went and made reservations." My little way of saying, "You're a slacker."

*guests who bring in more people than their original amount for their reservations. I can't make more seating space appear like magic.

*guests who make corny jokes. I hate when people in power makes corny jokes, They make me so uncomfortable.

*when former classmates/co-workers/employers that you despise, come in.

*guests who use the menu as a list of suggestions. Where do you see Chicken Flautas on the menu? WHERE?!?!?!

*guests who want a little bit of food split between many of them. Yeah ladies, 8 of you, 4 salads and 4 share plates. Thanks for wasting my table!

*celebrities (worst tippers and feel like I owe them something) - I once said to someone's assistant (excited) "I'm sorry, who's coming in, a doctor who's working on a cure for cancer?! (disappointed) Oh, the coach for the Dallas Cowboy's... well that's good too I guess."

*co-workers who fawn over said celebrities. I'm not star struck. Celebrities should be fawning over me. I pay to see their crappy movies!

*when higher ups want a table available for a friend during a peak hour on a busy night and say "Find them a table!" I hand them a floor plan and say, let me know where you see one available, because I don't?" I'm not having a guest get mad at me because you 2nd cousin's, best friends, room mate's, dogwalker's, boyfriend wants to come in. And whoever you do bump, you're telling them. I'm not doing your dirty work.

*guests who are loud and crass. Once again, fine dining. Someone on the other side of the restaurant should not have to endure your cackling laugh or hear about your venereal disease.

*guests who want to bring in outside food. We have wicked desserts on our menu. That's like going to a bar with your own 6 pack and asking to use their glasses.

*guests who ask "what's your favorite thing on the menu?" My answer will always be the most expensive thing, because I want yo' moneys!!! Just pick something!

*guests who don't check in for their reservation, or just plain don't show up. Just call & say you're not coming. Nothing bad will happen. I know emergencies occur or people flake out. I've turned away guests to accomodate you and you can't give me a little respect by calling & saying you're not coming or running late. I know places where if you no call/no show 3 times, you're not permitted to make a reservation anymore.

*guests who say "I'm gonna take care of you." They won't!

  4. *people who say they are ready to order but they aren't

*people who act like it's your fault when their food is cooked wrong

*people who are rude and talk down to you

*people who interrupt me when I initally greet them (When I say Hi! My name is so-and-so and...then someone interrupts with "I wanna iced tea")

*when you're taking the tables order and they suck down all their drinks and eat all the bread you just gave them and then they say "Hey, I need a refill and we need more bread". It's like no sh*t I just saw you eat and drink everything on the table. I am not wonder woman I will be right back with what you need. Unlike you...I have common sense.

*People who sit at dirty tables...that is just disgusting

*people who snap their fingers at you. I am not a dog do not treat me like one. If I ever see someone do that to me, I purposely make them wait and pretend like I did not see them.

*People that run you. You can ask for everything you need at once...a coke, extra napkins, ketchup, more bread...believe it or not, I can remember all of that and bring it to you promptly

*Adults who order kids meals and then complain about getting charged for a drink. Next time an adult orders a kid meal I will bring their refill in a kid cup.

    *Campers

*People that come in five minutes before close.

*People who act like they know more about the menu and the restaurant than you do. I don't care how many times you've eaten here, you've never worked here and you don't know what you're talking about.

*Other tables who yell at you to get your attention when you are obviously in the middle of taking someone else's order. I will turn around and tell them, "I am in the middle of doing something else right now. I have other people to take care of other than you so you are going to have to wait.

I think this list could keep going if I let it. It is INSANE the amount of rude people you run into in the restaurant business.  It is so incredibly nice when in the middle of all that you get one really nice table where all the people are sweet and treat you with respect. If all people acted like that, you wouldn't believe the incredible service you will get. I will bend over backward to make those people happy just because they have the decency to show me some respect at work. It doesn't matter that I am serving you...I am still a human being with feelings just trying to do a good job at work.
