Waiting 5 years for getting IT Refund?

Hi,

I am waiting to get back refunds from IT Department, Govt of India amounting to 1.20 L INR (without interest).

4 years refund is pending since 2003.

Everytime I contact [e-mail] or call Aaykar Sampark Kendra, they reply to go and meet assessing officer. I am located in Hyderabad and my assessing officer is in Kolkata. Personally going there is not feasible for me.

I sent my tax consultant to meet the IT Department officials in Kolkata, and they asked for bribe as 20% of my refunds.

I am lost. What do I do now? Any suggessions will be helpful

This is the main problem of the Income Tax Department in India. I have also not received the refund for the last 3 years.  

I have taken my last 4rd refund after paying some amount to the officer and the postman who delivers it otherwise the officer forward it but the postman does not deliver it not they provide it personally.

I am also not in favor to pay some bribe.

If you want to take a chance, you make a RTI Case against it. The officer are mainly afraid of RTI (Right to Information Act) . This is the last option otherwise i advise you to locate some seniors if you are known to him else the last option is bribe.
