in english, we are creating fake newsletters based on Waiting for Godot, absurdism, and the search for meaning. I was assigned the advice column. What types of situtaions can you suggest I include in the advice column that ties in all three of these aspects together? A few would be nice. =]

  1. Waiting... is one of my favorite plays.  One line that stays in memory was said, i think by Pozzo, but it has been many years since i read it:  "This is enough for you"? referring assumedly to existence as a human.

I am not absolutely clear on what you're asking, but if you are writing advice to others on their existential angst, and you are making up situations that "others" are asking advice about, i would suggest just the actually most basic questions that humans should be asking of themselves :  who am i? what is this all about, and where am i going?

You might, however, frame these in interesting young person contexts:   Q.  I'm not sure what to do about my friends, they are all interested in just hanging out and doing drugs, it seems to me we are here on Earth to do more "important" things. Am i being unfair to them., or too judgmental?

    Q.  All of my friends are interested in becoming rich and powerful no matter what it takes.  I think it's more important to be kind and helpful to others, regardless whether i get rich or not.  Am i way off base?

Etc.    I hope this helps :)))

  2. I think I'd call the column "Dear Absurdby"--

I think I'd start by writing letters from characters in the show that reflect some of their concerns:

"Dear Absurdby--I've been happy serving my idol, "Paul", for a long time--but now he wants to sell me!  What should I do to get him to change his mind and let me keep working as his draft animal?"

"Dear Absurdby--I think my friend "Edsie" is distracted.  He keeps asking questions there's no answer for.  He doesn't seem to care about my problems anymore, and I've got a lot of them--my feet hurt and my memory isn't what it used to be.  How can I get him to focus on reality once in a while?"

I'll leave you to do letters from Vladimir and Pozzo...
