I'm late on period...on cycle day 36, last cycle was only 26 days, so that would make it approx. 10 days late.

I ovulated and had baby makin' s*x around the 'fertile' times.

Today, I went to get a blood test because all my hpts have been negative, but no pms signs at all. The only symptoms of anything that I have is exhaustion (took a nap every day this weekend & I never nap!) and I have slighly sensitive nipples...they 'perk' up with a barely there touch and are uncomfortable. Other than that, no signs of AF.

Anyway, my question is......

How many of you have (or known some who has) tested negative on HPTs (even being as late as I am), yet had a positive quantiative blood test....?

And if this had happened, and the reason is low levels of hCG, did you go on to have a viable pregnancy and healthy baby?

I'm worried that if I can't get a positive hpt, and if the blood test is positive that I'm not producing enough hormones to carry the baby full term. I'm worried that there may be something wrong and a reason as to why I can't make enough hcg to show a positive.

Thanks to all...and best answer gets 10 points!!!

  1. This did not happen to me, but happened to a close friend of mine.  She kept getting negative hpt's so she went in for blood work and they confirmed that she was pregnant.

They were concerned with her low hormone levels though, so they continued to test her blood every other day, and after a week they found out that it was a tubal pregnancy and that is why her hormone levels were so low.

I'm not saying this to worry you, I know that there are certain cases where hormone levels are low and the mother carries to term just fine.  So I would just wait for your blood test to come back, but good luck I hope it works out for you!

  2. if you get a positive they can give you progesterone pills or suppository, to help with your hormones

    good luck

it is natural ask your doctor about it
