Hey, so i have been a hostess now for almost 3 months. my boss said eventually i can become a waitress, and i think i would prefer it. i am a people person and i like helping out the servers when they need it, so i have kind of seen what waitressing would be like. but someone told me it's very difficult sometimes because of the jerks out there...what are some pros/cons of both waitressing & hostessing? what about the money, which is better? i get paid minimum wage hostessing now. thx!

  1. The tips are good waitressing, depending on how busy you are.  It is good most of the time.  There are jerks, but if you are the hostess you have to deal with them too.  If you are a people person, then waitressing will be good for you.   (I've been a waitress, but never a hostess.)

  2. I would take the opportunity to waitress if given it. You will make more money. Even on a bad day you will still make more money than being a hostess. You will have the opportunity to socialize with the customers more. If you are good at your job the jerks should be minimal. If you are courteous people will be courteous to you. If you get a jerk remember they will be gone within an hour anyway. And if you dont like it go back to being a hostess.

  3. You would be making A LOT more waitressing but it is harder work.

There are always the jerks but you can't let them get to you. Ive waitressed before and there are just some people out there you wish never existed and you can't go off on them because "the customer is always right".... In the end it is worth it because of the tips.
