My mom and I went out to eat the other day and the waitress was kind of annoying and strange. She sat at our table and talked to us. She gave us the wrong food. She forgot to bring our drinks. She also wouldn't listen when we wanted something. If we ever go back again when she is there what should we do?

  1. first of all you should have reported her to the management. but she may have been having a bad day or something to keep her mind off of her job. just ask not to be seated in her section.

  2. If the service was that bad, I would report it to the manager and definately wouldn't return.

  3. Suck it up! I'd like to see YOU get off your butt, and get a job.

  4. Well, believe it or not, and chances are you can believe it, there are bad servers out there.  In fact, some restaurants employ some of the stupidest human mess ups life can muster.  However, people like that work in jobs all over the world.  First off just remember that anyone can have a bad day.  Some servers handle keeping this to themselves better than others.  I don't ever condone sitting at a guests table unless otherwise invited or say it's something servers do at the restaurant.  Personally, I'm a very efficient server.  So, I'm usually in and out and basically just there to fill the role of the guy that keeps your drinks filled and makes sure everything is perfect.  I'll toss a couple jokes back and forth or carry on a conversation every now and then, but I'd rather be checking on all of my other tables, getting some sidework done, or running other servers food.  I do however see servers that like to talk talk talk to tables and I never understand why they do it.  Most of them say they do it to get better tips, but personally I don't want my server to jabber jaw when he or she could be putting my order in.  After you got the wrong food you should have asked for the manager right away to possibly get another server.

Drinks are another matter.  If it's something like coke or water then it should be on your table within 2 min, given he or she doesn't get held up by another on the way.  If its something like hot tea or coffee it's not uncommon for it to take as long as 5 min given the prep (out of the way cream and sugar, finding a clean coffee cup, so on), lets not even get into how many guest go on to complain about water temp both hot and cold.  If you order bar drinks, your server is pretty much at the mercy of the bartender.  If a customer asks me about their bar drinks before 5 min has passed or before I have left my station I have a tendency to begin to neglect them.  If they are rude, pampas, demanding, or what-have-you, I will generally not pay as much attention to them as my other tables since people that don't understand how to talk to other human beings will tend not to tip very well either.  After learning that there is no way to please people like that I've just started to ignore that table and give my other tables even better service.  That being said it's not to say this is the case with every table.  There is a big difference from the table making you serve over their SUV sized stroller or the self absorbed family with no manners and the couple that may have just fought on the car ride over or the customer that may have just lost a loved one.  People can't read your mind, and furthermore we are complete strangers so we don't know your habits or how you like to be served.  If she was talking to you too much you should have just told her.  You can say something like, "We need some personal time", or, "My mother and I were hoping to just catch up with each other if you don't mind".  Some people just don't get the hint and in that case you just need to catch a manager before you leave and let them know how you feel.  You should also look at yourself and gauge whether or not you are just being unrealistic with your needs or not expressing you needs clearly to the server, say like being short or just saying something once without making sure they were even looking at you or heard you.  If you do decide to go back just make a request with the hostess so you don't get that server, if you don't know her name ask that you get a male server.  Females are usually happier being served by men and vise versa anyway.

  5. what if you don't go back to that place...?

  6. Life is all about second chances.  Maybe she was just having an off day, or maybe she had some bad news.  If the food is worth going back for, and you happen to get her again, be polite and see what happens.  If her service is still terrible, not leaving a tip or writing a note on the bill is a good way to send a message without getting too personal.  Or just tell the manager.  But beware, as the staff may have something against you the next time around!

  7. I would report her to the manager, if he doens't seem conserned I would report it to his manager (he is supposed to give you their name but you can always just look it up online on the food chain's web site.)

Bad service will not be corrected if nothing is said.

  8. ASK FOR ANOTHER WAITRESS N IF SHES THER ASK FORTHE BEST WAITRESS CUSE SOUNDS LIKE SHE NEED TO DO SOMETHING ELSEBESIDES WAIT TABLES.
