Waitressing experience HELP?

I'm starting a new job as a waitress tomorrow and one of the managers told the who ever runs the restaurant in the pub i had waitressing experience to get me the job even though i don't he's a friend so can anyone help me what do i need to know etc??

  2. Just act surprised when he mentions that you have waitressing experience and chalk it up to broken telephone. He'll start you from the ground up and if you're a quick learner, you'll have nothing to worry about.

  3. Well waitressing isn't really as hard as people say it is, so you shouldn't have much trouble. Plus, waitressing is different at every place since ever place has a different menu and different way of doing things, so you'll probably get training anyway. Just be honest and say you actually don't have that much experience, since you're already hired it's not a problem. And plus, the job isn't that hard: you greet people, get them drinks, take orders, bring them the food, make sure everything's ok, get them the bill asap, etc. But like I said, every place is different. Some places have food runners, some places have bussers, some places you call out your orders to the cooks, some times you hang them, some places have a hostess who seats people, some places you seat yourself... it all depends. You'll get the hang of it.
