Wakeboarding and Snowboarding?

I am a snowboarder and i want to sstart wakeboarding. My dad bought me a HO soul 5....it is a used board and has no bindings or anything with it. I was going to start wakeboarding in may but we had to go to some family reunion instead (crazy family) so i need to know what kind of bindings to get. We are going in two weeks to the lake and i will have plenty of time to practice because i live in AZ and even in the winter we still go to the lake lol. Any pointers on how to start wakeboarding would be cool.

  1. Since you have two weeks, you should pick up a copy of 'The Book' Wakeboarding Instructional DVD series and check out Disc 2, Basic Foundations.  This DVD will show you better than we can tell you how to start off.  Since you snowboard, I suspect you have the balance and edging abilities necessary to wakeboard.  Like has already been stated, once you can get up regular, practice riding switch as soon as possible.  There are plenty of exercises on the DVD that will give you the knowledge you need to get cooking.

As far as binding, I like the LF Alpha bindings, really comfortable and not a bad price either.  Since it is the end of the Summer season, prices are dropping so there should be some good deals out there.  Good luck and welcome to the sport.

Also, check out http://www.wakeboarder.com  there are lots of folks from all over the country and plenty in AZ that you could hook up with for a pull if you don't have you own boat, plus riding with others who are better than you, tends to push your own progression.

  2. push your shoulders back, keep the handle low to hips, keep your body stacked properly. smile. a progressive cut doesn't have to start 15' out. a progressive cut is just as much about carving a good turn as it is anything. keep the board on edge when you get to the wake. learn switch. it will help with board mastery.

  3. make sure when you are in the water waiting for the boat to take off, you have your feet tucked in as tight as possible, and dont stand up on your own right away, let it pull you up, but eventually you WILL have to stand up.

if you go to supra.com you can look at the supra team do all theese cool trix
