Hey! My dad purchased a boat and it came with some wakeboards and ropes. I was wondering if the board, bindings, or rope make a large difference in performance. Also ,what are some tips in turning (to the right is harder for me, with left foot forward), and jumping or crossing the wake. thanks!

  1. Just get out and ride. The more you think about whats going on the more likely you are to eat it. Just relax and have fun. Right off the bat there is no need to got out and get a top of the line board. They are designed for seasoned riders. You won't be able to get the board to turn and when you do hit the wake there will be way to much pop. Go have a good time get all the basics down then start the board search.

  2. The equipment will make a difference in your riding. If you are just beginning it won't as much, but as you get better you will want certain things. The best board brands are Hyperlite, Liquid Force, Obrian, or CWB. As far as ropes, wakeboarding ropes are made specifically not to stretch so it will give you more control when you start getting air. Bindings same companies as well. For cutting out to the right, it always feels weird at first. I always tell people to turn the front of the board so it is facing the shoreline, which you really have to turn at the hips a lot. Then lean on your toes and use the ropes leverage to keep you from falling on your face while cutting out. Hope this helps!

  3. START ON SHORE being pulled out...Thanks
