Hi, I am about to try to waterski/wakeboard on my boat and I was wondering where the the rope that the skier grabs onto should be tied on the boat. As my boat has a hook at the back of the boat which is only about 2 feet above the water. however, anytime that i have seen waterskiing, the rope has has been tied to a bar/hook which is much higher than mine .... any information is helpful as im a noob to this

  1. Normally wakeboarders use a wakeboard tower like one of these

or Normally the boat has a pole near the drivers seat which the rope is tied onto like this

  2. try using the lower hook for sking that way it is easier to get up and for wakeboarding put the rope on the top hook and have the distance shorter that the ski rope. by having the rope up high it lets u get up easier and get more height when u do tricks.

    have fun!!

    hope i could help

  3. When you mention a hook on the back of your boat i assume you mean the tow eye. The tow eye is the intended attachment point for towing a skier (or wakeboarder).

Other methods of attaching a rope are to a ski pole or to a wakeboard tower which would both be higher if your boat is equipped with either. Don't worry if it's not because the tow eye is perfectly adequate for towing a wakeboarder or waterskier.

If you do have a wakeboard tower it's not recommended to attach the line that high for water skiing although if you're not too heavy it won't do any harm.

If you do get really serious then i would recommend a ski pole for mono skiing (one ski) or a tower for wakeboarding (the extra height makes it easier to jump higher).

Feel free to e-mail me if you want any more info.

Have a great time out there!
