Wakefield Trinity Wildcats injury status ahead of their Saturday’s fixture against Tigers
Aaron Murphy of the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats had injured his wrist for a number of weeks, which needs surgery for its recovery, but Murphy neglected his injury and continued playing games. Unfortunately, his injury cannot be further delayed and his surgery
needs to be undertaken with immediate effect, which will keep him out of the remaining season.
With this decision taken, he will be missing the final three encounters by his outfit this season and during this season, he scored two tries for Wildcats.
Wildcats Currently are residing on the bottom of the Super League hierarchy with only eight points scored so far from 24 matches he has played, will be meeting the Castleford Tigers on Sunday, August 21.
Frankie Mariano will be sitting out of the match due to his sprained ankle in the clash against the Warrington Wolves, who bagged a massive victory of 66-12 over Wakefields.
Josh Griffin picked up a knee injury during the clash against the Crusaders RL in which they amassed an embarrassing defeat of 6-40, which has left the Wakefields’ departing coach, John Kear wrapped around in worries.
Since his injury, Griffin is sitting outside the matches although he is busy in training but he will not be able to take part in the weekend’s encounter lined up.
The injury list does not end there. Luke George will also accompany the outside-injured clan. George got his ankle injured which will keep him out of the weekend’s fixture lined up.
Matthew Blaymire’s surgical procedure successfully took place last week and has returned to the training session, to recover from his operation. Blaymire will return to the field but for the moment, he will be out of action for a few weeks’ time.
It has been confirmed that the fullback, Blaymire will not participate in the remaining season’s Super League.
When Blaymire was ousted from the squad due to his knee injury in 2010, Murphy was taken in to replace him on the fullback’s position within the Wildcat’s line up.
Murphy, who has taken over Blaymire’s fullback spot since 2010, can also play as the centre or the winger.
However, with Blaymire already sitting out, Murphy’s injury will be a major blow to the Wildcats as there is no one left to handle the centre’s position for them.
Wakefield is in the face of some major injuries and will require some major brainstorming from Kear’s end, as many of his key players are already sitting out of the selection list for the encounter lined up on account of injuries.
The Wildcats’ finalised line-up for Saturday, August 20 fixture against the Castleford Tigers will be announced on August 18.
