Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ looking to hire new coach – Rugby League news
Wakefield Wildcats have confirmed that they will conduct interviews on August 22, for the vacant spot by the departing coach of the Wakefield, John Kear.
The word is that the officials at the Wakefield have already contacted Bobbie Goulding and Matt Adamson, ex Leeds Rhinos’ key player, to reign in as the head coach of Wakefield Wildcats.
The 39-year-old, Goulding has also played for Wakefield for sometime back in 2000, and has enjoyed a successful run as a rugby player but he has no experience of Super Rugby as a coach so far.
On the other hand, Adamson was part of the Grand Final winning squad of Rhinos back in 2004. Also, he has served as assistant coach under the head coach Matthew Elliott at the Penrith Panthers.
Both options are in tough competition with for the vacant coach position for Wildcats.
This spot has been held by John Kear for last five years. He took charge of the Wakefield as their head coach in 2006 and is inching towards the end of his departing season. According to Kear, his tenure at the club has been a very bumpy ride, as the club
had to struggle all along to remain within the Super Rugby League games. However, against the expectations Wakefield managed to book Super League license as the financial-crisis hit Crusaders pulled themselves out of the licensing process.
It has been revealed that the interview process has already been initiated as James Elston, the chief of the Wildcats and the franchise’s owner, Andrew Glover have already started taking Skype interviews.
The latest coach for the Wildcats will have to be very vigilant in his ability to mould the highly diverse set of player according to his game codes and discipline. The latest inductions on the Wakefield’s pack are Ali Lauitiiti from Leeds and Peter Fox
of Hull KR.
Kear is stepping down from his duties of a coach by the end of this season which is not turning out to be a good one at all. With the very recent loss of 30-34 against the Castleford Tigers, this has left the coach angry.
Kear reckons that his side deserved to win and said, “I thought we didn’t get the rub of the green. I thought the effort was magnificent but it’s a massive wrong decision when a guy steps in touch and it’s plain for all to see.”
He further went on to explain that his term at Wildcats has been a bumpy ride which was heavily punctuated by an ever-increasing injury toll and the set back which the club had to go through with the deaths of rugby legends from Wakefield.
